This circular shrug is knitted in 2 halves on straight needles, but can be worked in the round on a circular needle. (We like ChiaoGoo circular red cable needles with interchangeable tips.)
The 3 sizes are created by mixing the 2 sizes of sections, so small is 2 small sections, medium is a small and a large, and large is 2 large. A large size would fit a lady up to about UK size 14/16
This garment is a real conversation piece, it looks great worn with a plain shirt or jumper, and circles your body…. it starts at the back of the neck, comes down the front side, then across the small of the back, up the front side and meets at the back of the neck. It can be worn loosely fitted, or fixed with a pin or decorative brooch across the bust.
It is worked with an increasing number of stitches, and the rib changes from 1X1 through to 3X3 .
It is fun to knit, and to wear. We have designed it for Frangipani Guernsey 5 ply yarn which has great structure and holds the rib firmly, but can be knitted in a softer 4 ply, but sizing will need to be adjusted accordingly. (It looks great made with 100% wool rare breeds yarns which also have a firm structure.)
