Circus Lights
This scarf, which is really wide enough to be a wrap, is a fun choose-your-own-adventure project. Use as few or as many colors as you’d like for the polka dots, spaced as far apart or as close together as you want. Get matchy-matchy, or knit it like a memory blanket using leftovers from other projects or souvenir minis from vacation LYS visits. Finish it off with the biggest pom poms you can make, and rock it like the world is your runway. Each scarf shown represents a collection of Round Mountain colors - Botany, Entomology, and Ornithology.
Size: 18”/45cm x desired length.
Needles: US 8/ 5mm or size to obtain gauge, and 1 size smaller.
Gauge: 20 sts and 20 rows = 4”/10cm, wet blocked and stretched length-wise; the weight of the finished scarf and pompoms will increase your row gauge by several sts.
Yarn: worsted weight: yardage depends on desired length (approx 800 yards/ 732 meters of MC if you use a lot of large dots); MC divided into two or three separate balls for intarsia; as many CCs as you like.
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle to weave in ends.
Samples knit in: Round Mountain Fibers Willow (100% superwash Merino; 185 yds/169 m per 100g) in Entomology: Mantis Yellow (MC) and Leaf Hopper Blue, Burnet Pink, Mantis Green, and Mantis Orange; in Ornithology: Puffin Blue (MC) and Jay Green, Kestrel Orange, Finch Yellow and Bee Eater Blue; in Botany: Jewel Weed Stem (MC) and Pulpit Berry Red, Poppy Orange, Pulpit Green, and Dark Gray.
