The mini lime motifs are crocheted as you go, using a technique called tapestry crochet. Similar to Fair Isle knitting, it’s ideal for creating playful patterns, and this mini project makes a great introduction to the method.

■ Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima, 100% cotton, 100g/200m per ball, one ball each in China Pink (3711), Chartreuse (3746) and Spring Green (3762)
■ 3.5mm (UK 9, US E/4) crochet hook
