Tunisian simple stitch provides a linear structure that lends itself well to embellishment. In this scarf, red, white, and black yarn are worked with the main tan color to create the horizontally striped background. Those same accent colors are chained onto the scarf in vertical lines to complete the plaid look.

The loop stitch, a variation of single crochet, was used for the fringe. The loops were cut to make a thick, short fringe to finish off this classic scarf.

You will need a Tunisian crochet hook size H and a regular crochet hook size G. I used one skein in each of four colors, with plenty of yarn left over.

The pattern includes written instruction, technique photos, and symbol charts.
