One day I was thinking of making a nice warm—yet lightweight—sweater for myself and went through my stash. I found some very soft pleasant yarn that I kept for the swatches, and for this reason it was mostly in (cold) neutrals. And only so much of the same yarn was in bright warm color. So I decided to make it striped.

When attempting to give this design a name, I recalled a children’s cartoon, “Along the Road with Clouds.” One character exclaims to his sad friend, “How could you be sad and bored when there is something out there?! Today we have a road and the clouds. Let’s walk along the road with the clouds!” And it made their day! They have seen so many bright things, walking with the clouds. The lesson is:
Perceive surroundings as if you are still a child.
Be thankful for what you have been given.
And try to create something nice and cheerful with whatever sources and materials you have available.
