A step up from plain brioche mittens, the Cluaran Mittens feature a single thistle motif worked on the back of the hand using dramatic increases and decreases. The dense, squishy two-color brioche fabric is warm and snug to wear. The pattern is written for three sizes and uses little yarn, making it the perfect quick knit to whip up for yourself or for a friend.

Pattern has been tech edited and tested.

Yarn: Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply (fingering; 100% superwash merino wool; 400 yd/100g) MC: Sand Dollar, 1 skein CC: Black Salt, 1 skein

Needles: One set of US 1 (2.25 mm) dpns or 24” 60 cm circular needle for magic loop
Extra US 1 needle for three-needle bindoff

Notions: Stitch marker, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle

Notes:
The mittens are knit from the cuff up.
The mittens are written for three sizes; hand circumference is measured around the widest part of the hand, above the thumb. If between sizes, choose the smaller size. Sample shown is 6.25” circumference on a 7” circumference hand.
The sample shown used approximately 125 yards of each color for the pair.
To make the decreases easier to execute, needles with sharp tips are recommended.
