Cluaran is a crescent-shaped shawlette knit from the top down. It consists of three sections: a stockinette body, a lace body, and a lace edging. Cluaran is Scots Gaelic for “thistle,” the national emblem of Scotland and the Celtic symbol for nobility of character. The thistle lace pattern used for the body combined with the gemstone-inspired edging calls to mind Scotland’s rich history and the beauty of the Highlands.

This shawl can be knit in a single 100g skein of fingering weight yarn for the small size, or in two skeins for the large size. All lace is charted.
