Co-op Cap
The Green Mountain Spinnery is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion we have crafted a slouchy cap pattern with sizing for everyone who comes through our doors. This hat features a classic three-color slipped stitch pattern called the oak stitch which will stand the test of time, just as our Mill has. The pattern is perfect for newer knitters since it requires no decreases for a perfect fit!
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Circumference 16 (18, 20, 21, 23)”/ 41(46, 51, 53, 58)cm
Depth 8 (9, 10, 10, 11)”/ 20 (23, 25, 25, 28) cm
GAUGE:
17 sts & 36 rows = 4” /10 cm in three color oak stitch worked with larger needles
MATERIALS: Yarn: 3 skeins Weekend Wool or Mountain Mohair in
contrasting colors. 140 yards each
(21” circumference hat uses approx. 60 yds of each color, so you will be able to make multiple hats with the yardage required.)
Needles: US 9 /5.5 mm & US 10 /6 mm 16” circular needles
Notions: Stitch marker
For those of you who would like to knit up some of your own in the colors we used, we have another fun treat for you.
We’ve made up a Limited Edition Project Kit that includes a PDF download for our Co-op Cap pattern and three skeins of bouncy, warm woolen spun yarns in three colors that reflect the landscape of Winter in Vermont. This $42 kit will provide you with sufficient yardage to make at least two hats (possibly three depending on the sizes you select) so that you’ll have holiday gifts to spare!
