Coastal Flow Sweater
Introduction
The Coastal Flow Sweater is a relaxed design built around my long-standing love of granny squares. The square used in this sweater is one I designed several years ago and have returned to often, drawn back by its balance of structure, texture, and
openness.
The sweater began as an experiment in solid colour and texture. I wanted each square to feel tactile, while still allowing space and airiness within the fabric so the finished garment feels light and wearable. Working each square in a single colour makes this
quite a quick project, but there is plenty of scope to introduce additional colours if you’re feeling creative.
The playful stripes give this sweater a nautical feel, but it’s the kind of top you’ll reach for on days when you want to feel relaxed and cosy, without sacrificing your style.

About this pattern
This sweater pattern is a very simple block with no shoulder shaping so there is no definitive front or back. The body is made from joined granny squares, with a chest width of squares on the front and back in a contrast colour. You will be working a ‘front’ panel and a ‘back’ panel which you will then join at the shoulders and create a neck opening. The sides will be joined leaving armholes. The sleeves will be worked into the armholes and finally the ribbing sections completed for the neck, cuffs and hem.
