Coastline is a Fingering (4ply) shawl in 2 colours that features a single lace stripe among miles of meditative (or as I prefer to think about it, reflective) garter stitch. The triangle shape is worked sideways and the border is created using a travelling intarsia technique that is simple to work and easy to remember. If you can knit stripes, you can knit this!

The size is also very easy to adjust to your needs and yarn quantity so you can use 1 skein each of a long fingering yarn like I did for the sample, or try it in a gradient, or handspun, or use up some leftover yarns in a fade, there are so many possibilities.

Yarn
MC (variegated): 120g Fingering (4ply) weight yarn (sample used 115g Qing Yak Single 4ply which is 479m/524y per 120g/4.23oz col. Ember).
CC (solid): 120g Fingering (4ply) weight yarn (sample used 115g Qing Yak Single 4ply which is 479m/524y per 120g/4.23oz col. Teal).

Needles & Notions
3.5mm (US 4) needles. I like to use an 80cm (31 1/2”) circular needle set but straight are fine also.
1 stitch marker (optional, recommended if your MC and CC are not highly contrasted). Removable marker or safety pin (optional). Darning needle for sewing in ends.

Tension/Gauge
21 sts and 34 rows per 10cm (4”) square over garter stitch after blocking.

Finished Measurements
Approx. 86cm (34”) deep at centre, 178cm (70”) wingspan, 115cm (42”) cast-off edge (after blocking).
