Cockle Shells
Here, 3 different weights of yarn are used together successfully: tonal fine silk that is doubled, tonal heavy silk worsted singly, and multicolored sock wool worked singly. The 2 mostly solid colors and the softly scalloped pattern stitch lend structure that allows the soft hand-dyed colors to join in perfect harmony. Thinner silk yarns also lend a nice drape to a piece which acquires shape from its wearer.
