Coffee Breakers Cowl and Shawl
Coffee Breakers can be knit as a shawl, or as a small or large cowl. It is knit flat with two colors and features a syncopated brioche wave edging and a contrasting brioche rib body.
The cowl is a flattering, easy to wear shape that stays on as you move through your day. The cast on edge is seamed to the side of the ribbing to create a round cowl neck. The shawl shaping is the same as for the narrower cowl, but the knitting continues so you can use most of your yarn.
Pattern requires two skeins of fingering weight yarn in contrasting colors. Shawl shown in Hazel Knits Entice MCN (blue, knit on US 3), and Hazel Knits Artisan Sock (purple, knit on US 5).
Gauge is not critical. Gauge for cowl: 19 st/4” in brioche rib. Gauge for shawl: 24 sts/4” in brioche rib.
Finished measurements:
Small Cowl: 24”/61 cm at neck, 15”/38 cm deep.
Large Cowl: 28”/71 cm at neck, 17”/43 cm deep.
Shawl: 60”/152 cm long at neck, 22”/56 cm deep.
Coffee Breakers is a design in my book Brioche Knit Love, 21 Skill Building Projects from Simple to Sublime, publication date October 19, 2021.
