This cosy, snuggly lap blanket is perfect for keeping your legs or shoulders warm, but is a good size to carry in the car with you or throw in a bag. It’s really easy and soothing to make for crocheters of all skill-levels, and the stripes are a great opportunity to play with colour.

The updated version of it is designed to be kept simple and use two 50g balls of each colour of Milburn DK, plus one ball of the edging colour.

Materials

Eden Cottage Yarns, Milburn DK (85% Bluefaced Leicester 15% mulberry silk) (112m / 122yds)

2 x 50g balls each of colourways Rust, Fern, Catmint, Compost and Charcoal (which are used in that order);
1 x 50g ball of Wicker

4mm / US G-7 hook

Stitch marker, tapestry needle

Size

Each repeat measures 4.25cm (1.75 in) depth before blocking.

Finished blocked size 83cm (32.75 in) across by 96cm (37.75 in) long.

Note: finished measurements are approximate as the blanket pictured could have been stretched more – this comes down to individual preference.

Gauge

4sts x 4 rows in 2.5cm (one inch) square in half treble stitch after blocking
