Collins Sweater
My favorite summer tee is now a cozy winter sweater. The third pattern in a series of “Collins”, this sweater boasts a similar overall stitch pattern and can be made in one, two, or many colors. Pick out a perfect combination or grab a favorite main color and use up those worsted weight scraps. Get ready for a fun knit and subsequent cozy nights.
sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12)
Finished bust circumference: inches 32 (36, 40, 42, 46, 50, 52, 56, 58, 60, 64, 68) inchesShown worn with 6 inches of positive ease. Choose a size 6-8 inches larger than your actual bust measurement.
Yarn
Emma’s Yarn Washable Worsted, 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 218 yards / 100g skein.
or a worsted weight yarn of your choice:
One-color: 630 (830, 980, 1050, 1180, 1260, 1340, 1400, 1480, 1550, 1600, 1680) yards.
Two (or more) color(s):mc: 441 (581, 686, 735, 826, 882, 938, 980, 1036, 1085, 1120, 1176) yards.cc: 189 (249, 294, 315, 354, 378, 402, 420, 444, 465, 480, 504) yards.
Yardage for the cc is listed as total yardage. Multiple ccs will use yarn evenly. For example, to knit a size 1 with 3 ccs, you will need 63 yards of each color; to knit it with 6 ccs, you’ll need 32 yards of each.

Needles and Notions
US size 8 (5mm) or size needed for gauge: in varying lengths for yoke and body, and DPNs (or preferred needle for working small circumference in the round).
US size 6 (4mm) or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needles: DPNs and/ or circular for neck, waist and sleeve ribbing.
Crochet hook (approximately 5mm) and smooth waste yarn in a similar weight for provisional cast on with waste yarn. (optional)
Stitch markers.
Gauge
18 sts and 21 rounds = 4 inches on larger needle, in stockinette stitch worked in the round and blocked. Take time to check pre-blocked and blocked gauge
Notes
This top begins with a provisional cast-on. Later we will pick up the live stitches on our smallest needles and work a ribbed collar. You can use any provisional cast on method that you prefer. I’ve listed the steps to my favorite method on the last page. Laura Nelkin has a great tutorial for several methods on her website.
I’ve placed “O”s after each line with multiple rounds so that you have something to check off as you complete each round. If using multiple contrast colors (cc) establish an order and use each color in order throughout. Cut each cc after each section. Do not cut mc, instead carry it throughout. If using 2 colors (1 cc and 1 mc), carry both throughout. If using 1 color, disregard the directions to change colors.
