Merino Cloud and Ensemble Light both have cashmere and are sport weight yarns. But Merino Cloud is a combination of Merino and Cashmere and Ensemble Light is Silk stranded with Cashmere with a very light twist. The yarns are shown in the same color here, but the Ensemble Light takes to the dye so differently than the Merino Cloud. When I saw the way the yarns dyed up in this glorious green shade 365, I was inspired to make this color block jacket.

The entire jacket is worked 2 stranded. Sometimes A (Merino Cloud) is worked with B (Ensemble Light). Sometimes you hold 2 strands of A. Sometimes you hold 2 strands of B. Somehow the whole thing comes together with the rib shawl collar.

This is an easy easy drop shoulder pattern. The yarn is what makes it. And this particular type of yarn combination takes the guesswork out of assembling colors. You can just use both yarns in the same color.

The final touch of adding Beaded Silk and Sequins in color 365 Metal came to me after I realized it would turn the jacket into something extraordinary. This is totally optional and you can decide to do this at the end.

Don’t deprive yourself of this yarn which works perfectly and you can order it in any color. 3 (4) skeins Merino Cloud, 2 (3) skeins Ensemble Light will do it! Plus an optional skein of Beaded Silk and Sequins (metal beads and sequins are so subtle) will be a real treat. ENJOY!
