Color by Number Lightning Headband
Color by Number patterns are made with striping, picked up stitches, and a couple yarn-carrying tricks to make for as little finishing as possible, no complex techniques like stranded knitting or intarsia!
This design is part of the Coloring Book ebook, which is a collection of knit accessory patterns all designed to make the most of your colors!
This squishy, modular, buttoning headband can be made in any weight to get whichever width and style you prefer, with the same lightning bolt color pattern.
Use two contrasting colors for the bolts (and an optional third for the button band). Pairing a solid with a variegated can look very cool in this design!
This individual pattern is for just the Lightning Headband; the complete Color by Number set includes the pattern for this headband, along with the six other sample items and full customizing details.
Color chart
The color chart is given as a color-by-number grid, so that you can fill in the colors you want to use! At the end, you’ll find some blank drawings of the head-band with the color numbers filled in, so that you can break out the colored pencils and try out some ideas.
Sizing
The approximate size, in the given gauge, is 6.5 inches / 16.5 cm wide, 19.25 inches / 49 cm long. As you can see, this bulky version is very wide.
This piece can be made in any weight yarn, following the pattern exactly as written, repeating the color chart stripes until the length fits your head.
The finer your yarn weight, the more narrow the headband will be; use worsted for a more standard wide headband size, a sport or DK for a more medium kind of width, or sock yarn for a narrow style.
