This bold, brilliant baby blanket and hat set is one that will be treasured by both babies and toddlers. And what a great way to teach them colors. Each of the six bands of color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) on the blanket is shaped like a crayon, with the tip of the crayon to the left of the blanket, and the color it represents spelled out in the center.

The pattern is perfect for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter. Much of the design is ‘knit in pattern’ of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches. Both charts and written instructions are given for the letter portion of the blanket.

The sample shown was knit in dk weight yarn - finished size 32”x36”. I used 2 skeins each of 6 colors for the blanket and hat. The pattern also includes modifications for a blanket in worsted weight yarn- finished size 35”x42”. For this sample, I used 1 skein each of 6 colors of Berocco Comfort yarn (210 yds per skein).
