Color Therapy cowl is made using the Tunisian crochet technique. It is worked flat and only uses Tunisian simple stitch, which makes this project ideal for beginners. The picture tutorials explain how to change colors, create neat border stitches, and join quickly and easily.

The stitch pattern is reversible and creates delicate color “ladders” on one side, and stylish stripes on the other side.

The design simplicity and the “neat” tips included in the pattern allow you to enjoy the beautiful colorplay without having to focus too much on the stitches.

Materials
● Amitola by Louisa Harding Yarns, 80% wool, 20% silk, 273yd (250m) per 50g, colorway 102 Piroutte and 107 Salsa, 1 ball each
● US E (3.5mm) Tunisian crochet hook with extension
● Yarn needle to sew/weave in ends

Skill Level
The pattern assumes basic familiarity with Tunisian crochet, specifically how each row is worked as two separate passes and how to work Tunisian simple stitch.

Detailed instructions for changing colors in a special manner as well as for binding off are included.

Gauge
is not crucial for this design, any yarn with appropriate hook size can be used and and you can make this cowl smaller or larger by changing the starting number of chains and working fewer or extra row repeats of the stitch pattern.

Why not in the round?
When I was working on this design, my goal was to create an ideal intelligent pattern for Tunisian crochet beginners.

Working flat is easy. Seaming sides is fast. The result is neat (if you follow the suggestions in the pattern). The finished cowl looks great, even if it is, in fact, your first Tunisian crochet project.

Options:

• don’t seam the sides and create a stripy scarf instead
• use two different kinds of variegated yarn with long-color repeats, or choose one solid-color yarn and mix it with variegated yarn with long-color repeats.
