I knitted this shawl during my summer holiday and it was an easy-going activity to make the body of it. However, the border demands attention and patience – it has almost the same amount of yarn as the body of the shawl and it does seem to build quite slowly. Despite this, I enjoyed knitting it because the pattern is easy to memorize hence you can knit it anywhere, even without the pattern being in front of you.

Semi-circle shaped shawl, the border is knitted at the end, sideways. Thanks to its shape the shawl drapes beautifully over the shoulders and is nice and warm even when knitted with thin yarns, like the sample I made. The choice of colours can change the style of the shawl: if you use the same colour for the body and the border you will get an elegant piece, or you can make it quite wild by combining strongly-coloured or variegated yarns. You could even make the body stripy, getting a completely different effect.

SIZE: top span: 130 cm, lower span: 215 cm, height: 50 cm
DIFFICULTY, SKILLS NEEDED: Advanced. The border is added to the main part of the shawl sideways. The border includes both cable and lace elements.
YARN: Malabrigo Yarn Lace (430m/50g, 100% merino extra fine)
colours: 275 Noviembre, 42 Garnet
NEEDLE: 3 mm or the size required for the chosen yarn
YARN SUGGESTIONS: Yarn thickness: fingering-lace. While almost any type of yarn can be chosen for the main body of the shawl (long or short colour changes, uni-colour, etc), the border should be knitted with uni-colour or semi-solid.
NOTIONS: 11 stitch markers, cable needles, tapestry needle

Ich habe dieses Tuch auf meinen Ferien gestrickt, arbeiten auf den einfache Haupteil war unterwegs sehr erholsam. Die Borte braucht Aufmerksamkeit und Geduld – er braucht die gleiche Menge Wolle wie der Hauptteil, der Muster ist nicht einfach und es geht langsam – aber trotzdem habe ich den Stricken geniessen, weil den Muster kann man schnell auswendig lernen.

Halbrundes Tuch, mit seitlich angestrickte Borte. Wegen den Form, drappiert gut den Schulter, und haltet den Warm, auch noch von so dünne Wolle gestrickt, wie das Mustertuch. Mit verschiedenen Farbwahl kann man verschiedene Ergebnisse erreichen: von eine Farbe gestrickt wird das Tuch elegant, wilde kann sein von sehr bunte Wolle (mit uni an Borte), oder kann man ein ganz unterschiedliche Aussehen bekommen mit Streifen.

Die Borte wird seitlich angestrickt. Die Borte enthältet auch Lace und Zopfmuster.

MASCHENPROBE: ist nicht nötig. Aber bitte beachten Sie, dass unterschiedliche Wolle und Nadelstärke, die Grösse des Tuches verändern. Die Auswahl der Wolle beeinflusst auch die benötigte Menge.

Ezt a kendőt a nyaralásom alatt kötöttem, nagyon jó volt a kendőtest pihentető részét kötni jártunkban-keltünkben. Bár a szegély odafigyelést és kitartást igényel (ugyanannyi fonal van benne, mint a kendőtestben! És bizony lassan halad!), azt is élveztem, mert pár ismétlés után megjegyezhető, így bárhol köthető, nem kell a mintát magunkkal vinni.

Félköríves kendő, utólag oldalról hozzákötött szegéllyel. A formája miatt könnyen vállra borul, kellemesen melegít, még akkor is, ha olyan vékony fonalból kötjük, mint a mintadarabot. A színválasztással különböző hatást érhetünk el: egy színt használva a kendőtesthez és a szegényhez is elegáns lesz a kendő. Színátmenetes, nagyon színes fonalat kombinálva egyszínűvel vadulhatunk. De a kendőtestet akár meg is csíkozhatjuk!
