Colour Story Cowl
Spread love, awareness, and acceptance with this quick and meaningful knit inspired by Pride flags from across the LGBTQ+ community. This pattern is part of Knit Your Pride, a collection celebrating visibility, identity, and support through knitting.
Using slip stitch mosaic colourwork, this design creates bold colour patterns without carrying yarn across the back of the work. Only one colour is worked at a time, making the knitting relaxing and approachable while still producing striking results. The knitting itself works up quickly — weaving in the ends may take a little longer!
The pattern is worked in the round and includes a colouring page so you can plan your own custom colour combinations, including additional Pride flags. The numbers on the colouring page correspond to the rows in the pattern, making it easy to experiment with different palettes and stripe arrangements.
Colourwork Notes
Slip stitch/mosaic colourwork uses only one colour at a time.
Colours are never carried across the back of the work.
Yarn may be carried up the inside between colour changes if preferred. Be careful not to pull the floats too tightly, as this can cause the fabric to bunch.
If colours are not carried up, there will be a large number of ends to weave in.
