The energetic, waving lines of lace in these mitts inspired the pattern’s name—con brio is a musical term that means “with spirit or vigor.” The sample pair was knit with Quince & Co. Chickadee Bare, dyed with walnuts.
Finished (Blocked) Measurements:
Hand circumference: 7.5 inches/19 cm unstretched at widest part of palm
Length: 7.25 inches/18 cm from cast-on to bind-off
Size/Ease Notes:
These mitts are quite stretchy and should comfortably fit palm circumferences of 7.5–9 inches/19–23 cm (measured above the thumb). For a smaller size, use smaller needles and/or fingering weight yarn.
Yardage:
165 yds/150 m sportweight yarn. Sample was knit with Quince & Co. Chickadee Bare 100% wool; 362yds/332 m per 100g skein. Chickadee Bare comes in a larger skein (100g) than the dyed colors of Chickadee (50g). If you are making these mitts with the regular (dyed) Chickadee, you’ll need just one skein.
Needles and Notions:
US #4/3.50mm double-pointed needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
US #3/3.25mm double-pointed needles
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn

24 sts/36 rnds = 4”/10 cm in pattern stitch using larger needle, after blocking
To save time, check gauge.
