Concorde Mittens
These mittens came into being as a quick gift for a friend who wanted some traditional looking mittens similar to the ones she wore as a child and if they gave me the opportunity to try out some new techniques then all the better.
Knit in the round you start off with a provisional cast on and then work a panel of stranded colour work. The hem is folded up to enclose the floats and the cuff is topped with a Latvian braid. The main body of the mitten is worked with the yarn held double to keep your hands snug and warm and to make for a surprisingly quick knit.
The pattern is one size - to fit hand circumference: 18-20cm / (7-8in)
Tension
23 sts x 34 rows to 10cm over stocking st on larger needle with yarn held double.
Thank you to Elaine for test knitting the mittens for me and for all of her suggestions.
