Wear your cake and eat it too! A special ribbing, a luxurious lattice, and two scrumptious colours turn this hat into an oversized petit-four. To minimize any pattern jogging on either side of the start-of-row marker, a little duplicate stitch finishes off the trimming at the back.

I had a great time designing this hat in gorgeous hand-dyed artisanal yarn long since sold out, but when it won a place in the 10-pattern section of 1000 Fabulous Knit Hats I knew I’d have to find a good substitute. Baby Cashmerino has all the flexibility you need to make the ribbing and the royal quilting stitches a breeze, and these two colours are a near-perfect match for the original even if the gauge is completely different.

You will need:
1 ball color 340010 (purple)
1 ball color 340018 (green)

The ribbing stitch uses two needle sizes:
3.25mm
3.50mm
but after that, the rest of the hat is done in 3.25mm dpns.

Note: I didn’t have much yarn left over, but when I was finished my own Adult Medium I was able to make a Child sized hat using a second version of the crown (which is included in the pattern.)
