This sweater is the perfect pullover for a dusky stroll under a night sky. The tweedy flecks in the yarn create a constellation as individual and unique as the wearer. Designed with warmth, comfort, and ease in mind, the Constellation Pullover is both timeless and gender-inclusive.

It’s knit flat and seamed, with a modified drop shoulder and a relaxed fit. The funnel neck is cozy and warm and stays upright with a fold over on the inside. Sleeves are picked up and worked down to the deep cuff, allowing for custom fit. Coordinated ribbing at the hem hangs straight at the hips for a flattering finish.

One strand of Aran weight yarn and one strand of laceweight mohair are held together throughout. The two different yarn bases don’t need to be the same colour. A quick way to sample colour is to hold the two strands together and wrap them around something (cardboard, ruler, finger). Play around with strongly contrasting colours or tonally different colours to see the effect. Optional gradient stripes are worked by changing colours of the kid mohair strand.

Substitution Notes
Choose an Aran weight yarn that knits up to 16-19 sts per 4”/10cm on US size 4.5mm–5.5mm (US 7-9) needles in a wool or wool blend paired with a laceweight mohair or mohair blend. The pullover may also be worked with just a single strand of Aran weight yarn. Of course, when substituting, you always want to swatch for gauge and to see if you like the hand of the fabric you create.

Needles + Notions
5 mm/US 8 circular needles for working flat (24”/60cm or longer), and circular needles for working neck sts in the round (16–24”/40-60cm or two circulars for two circulars technique or 32”/80cm or longer for Magic Loop technique) or size to obtain gauge;
4.5mm (US 7) circular needles for working flat (24”/60cm or longer), or one size smaller than size used to obtain gauge;
3.5 mm/US #4 circular needle, at least 100 cm/40 inches long, or two sizes smaller than gauge needles;

Gauge
