Contorno
Spice up any outfit with a side-dish of Italian-inspired color. The Contorno wrap uses three unique colorways of handpainted yarn to create instant drama and flair.
Worked in garter stitch stripes, the wrap begins with a dramatic ripple worked lengthwise. Then, short row shaping pulls it all together into a gentle, lengthwise curve with tapered ends.
In Italian, “Contorno” has two meanings. In cooking, it’s a dish to accompany the main course. But I find its second definition, contour, works just as perfectly.
Helpful notes:
When you work the second half of the edging, you’re essentially flipping it over so the WS of the first half becomes the RS of the second half. This allows you to repeat similar patterning and carry the yarn up the inside edge of the curve.
Throughout the pattern, you’ll change colors every other row - EXCEPT when working short row wedges. (You could continue to change colors, but it creates issues with ends being in the wrong place, etc.)
