Sometimes simple is best to allow the yarn to really shine. This easy
to work and quick to grow shawl works perfectly with those tricky to
crochet variegated skeins, with the bold lines drawing the colour splashes along. Contour is a generous asymmetric shawl with a bold graphic look and beautiful drape.

Shaped like a tick, it wraps well and sits neatly. Plus its like wearing a secret affirmation of your correctness all day!

Size
Finished depth: 49cm/19in
Finished wingspan: 147cm/58in
Size is easily adjusted by working more or fewer rows. Altering the size alters the yarn required.

Materials
2 114g skeins Skinny Dipping Merino Singles (4ply weight, 100% Merino Superwash Wool singles spun, 475yds) in Salt Marsh
4.5mm (US 7) hook
A removable stitch marker

This pattern works well with any 4 ply yarn and size can be adjusted if your skeins are not as generous. We used 205g/855yds to make the shawl.
If you would like to stripe the shawl with two different skeins, change colour on right side rows.

Tension
17 sts and 12 rows in pattern to 10 cm/4 in using 4.5mm hook (or size needed to achieve tension)

Difficulty Rating
Easy

Skills Needed
Basic crochet stitches, working in rows, increasing, raised (post) stitches.

Construction
Started at centre top, each row is increased at each end and in the centre to form a triangle.
