Copernicus Cat Hat and Mittens
A collection of hats and mittens inspired by the pets and woodland creatures my two daughters adore. Hat is worked in basic stockinette stitch with Latvian braid using colors to complement the natural colors and markings of the animal that inspired the design. Ears are worked separately and sewn on. Mittens feature matching braid detail. Copernicus is the mischievous kitty of the bunch.
YARN REQUIREMENTS
Hat: Any worsted yarn (held double), aran or bulky yarn that achieves gauge. Worsted: MC: 220-250 yards (held double), CC: 15-20 yards; Aran/bulky: MC: 125 yards, CC: 15-20 yards
Mittens: Hat: Any dk/worsted yarn (held double), aran or bulky yarn that achieves gauge. Worsted: MC: 220-250 yards (held double), CC: 15-20 yards; Aran/bulky: MC: 125 yards, CC: 15-20 yards
CC yarn can be same weight yarn or lighter so it’s a good chance to use up leftover bits of yarn.
