This cardigan was inspired by shawl styling with a touch of the poppy shade, coquelicot. (Interweave)

Finished Size: About 32 (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44)“ bust circumference.Cardigan shown measures 32”.

Yarn: Rowan Creative Linen (50% linen, 50% cotton; 219 yd [200 m]/3-1/2 oz [100g]): #621 natural, 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6) skeins. Yarn distributed by Westminster Fibers.

Needles: Sizes 7 (4.5 mm) and 6 (4 mm): 24” circular (cir). Size 5 (3.75mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Cable needle (cn); markers (m); 5 (6, 6, 6-1/2, 6-1/2, 7, 7) yd hand-dyed 5/8” silk satin ribbon (shown in Bougainvillea from M&J Trimming, www.mjtrim.com); tapestry needle; 3 hook-and-eye sets; sewing needle and matching thread for attaching hooks and eyes

Gauge: 15 sts and 20 rows = 4” in Leaf Vines patt on largest needle; 15 sts and 24 rows = 4” in St st on middle size needle; 15-1/2 sts and 24 rows = 4” in garter st on smallest needles.

NOTES

• The skirt is worked in one piece from the bottom up. After completing the lace edging, the skirt is shaped with decreases worked in the center of each marked side panel.

• The bodice is worked in two identical lace rectangles. Each rectangle is centered on the shoulder line with one half hanging down in front or in back, and its short selvedges are sewn to the top of the empire band during finishing. The bodice pieces are seamed together for a few inches at center back to raise the back V-neck opening.
