Coral Blossoms Face Scrubbies
Crochet a set of cute, flowery face scrubbies with a beachy feel for your bathroom, or as a gift for a friend.
Pair them with the Sea Blossoms Washcloth pattern
Difficulty:
Easy
Techniques used: Side puff stitches picot single crochet, shells, working in the back bar of a single crochet
Materials Needed:
3.25mm (D) hook
15 yards #4 worsted weight cotton yarn in colors of your choice. Pictured is Hobby Lobby “I Love this Cotton” in “Sunlit Seafoam”, “Warm Blush”, “White”, “Bruschetta”, and “Serene Spa”, or colors of your choice.
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitches Used:
ch/chs = chain/chains
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
Additional Terms:
Working in the 3rd Loop of hdc: Look at the top of the stitch, and locate the sideways “V”, bend the stitch to look at the back and you should see another “V” made by the “yarn over”. You’ll be working into the back loop of that “V”. This is called the 3rd loop.
Side Puff Stitch: dc in designated stitch, insert hook around post of dc stitch just worked, YO, pull up a loop 3 times around same st, YO and pull through all remaining loops. This stitch consists of both a dc and a puff stitch. The stitch totals at the end of the round reflect these pieces separately.
Picot Single Crochet (psc) (also known as the Granule Stitch): Insert hook, yo, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop 3 times to make a ch 3, then yo, and draw through both loops on the hook. Pull your ch-3 sp towards the front of your work instead of pushing it toward the back.
Small Bobble: YO, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, YO, draw through 2 loops 4 times, YO, draw through all remaining loops on hook.
BLO = back loop only
st/sts = stitch/stitches
sp/sps = space/spaces
prev = previous
Gauge:
Gauge isn’t particularly important for this project.
Measurements:
Approximately 3 1/4” across
Additional Notes:
-Ch-1 at beginning of round does not count as st.
-Unless otherwise indicated, round begins in same stitch as join.
