Coriolis Hat & Infinity Cowl
Hat: 10.5” tall, 24” circumference at the widest point (lightly blocked, not stretched); approx 220 yards of any worsted weight yarn
Cowl: 7” wide, 60” long (lightly blocked, not stretched); approx 220 yards of any worsted weight yarn
The rotation of the Earth creates an interesting effect on free moving objects on the planet; it forces winds to shift towards the right or left, forming clouds into coiled, spiral-like shapes. This phenomenon, called the Coriolis Effect, served as the inspiration for this hat and cowl set.
The spiraling pattern is achieved by combining yarn overs with simple decreases; it is easy to memorize and suitable even for a beginner lace knitter. The lace is very elastic making both accessories stretchy enough to accommodate a large range of sizes and easy to customize just by working a different number of pattern repeats.
