This Tote is formed in pieces: Square 1, Handles, Square 2 are worked in one piece (Rows), Square 3 (Rows), Border (Round), Join (Rows).
Pattern is created in a diamond shape. Begin at one corner, increasing the stitch count every row until reaching half the desired size. Then, decrease the stitch count every row until the diamond (square) is formed.
