Cornhill
This is a simple but pretty and practical shawl, designed to be relaxing and easy enough for travel - and TV knitting. It requires no counting, no stitch markers, and no purling. It’s designed to use approximately 400m of each of two colours of 4ply yarn.
Materials
Eden Cottage Yarns Milburn 4ply (4ply/ fingering; 85% (Superwash Bluefaced Leicester); 200m/ 218yds per 50g skein)
MC: Natural; 2 x 50g balls
CC: Harvest Gold; 2 x 50g balls
Note: This shawl is designed to use approximately 400m per colour, however if you have a little more or a little less, simply work to where you want to, stop, and jump to ‘final row’ section, making sure you have enough to work that plus a stretchy enough cast off.
Ideally, work that row plus the cast off in the opposite colour to that which you were just working with.
Needles and Accessories
One 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle, 80cm (32in) length (or the size needed to obtain the correct gauge).
If you prefer more space for stitches on your cable you may find it easier to work with a 100-150cm (40-60in) circular needle.
Size
194 cm (76.3 in) wingspan x 35 cm (13.7 in) depth, blocked.
Gauge
17sts and 48 rows to 10cm (4in) over garter stitch on 3.5mm (US 4) needles after blocking
