We love the subtle shifts that add up to rich textural effects in Field Guide No. 5: Sequences.

This sampler shawl uses 16 different sequence-knitting fabrics separated by spacers of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch. The gauge of each fabric is different, and this, combined with the natural curl of the stockinette stitch, creates the corrugated effect.

The pattern is best worked in a luxury yarn with a clean structure to emphasize the different textures and make a luscious fabric.
