8ply (DK) or light worsted weight yarns are suitable in wool, acrylic or alpaca. My preference for baby items is acrylic as parents can throw these items in the washer and dryer.

Use your imagination and use non traditional colours as I have. Light and dark grey would look amazing as a gender neutral cardigan too.
