Cosy Coddles
These little egg cosies were inspired by some vintage embroidered ones I own, originating from Holland I beleive.
Like the originals, the cosies have three different panels; a folk man or boy, a folk woman or girl, and a flower. They have a knitted lining for super insulation powers, an i-cord bottom edging, and are topped with a dinky little i-cord loop. A fun project!
The pattern gives full written instructions for constructing the cosy, with a chart for the stranded pattern. It also includes digitally illustrated tutorials for crochet provisional cast-on, and the stranded knitting techniques used.
For one cosy you will need 35 metres/38 yards of main (background) colour and 10 metres/ 11 yards of contrast colour in 4ply/fingering weight yarn. Tension/gauge is 28 sts and 32 rounds per 10cm/4″ in stranded pattern after blocking. Suggested needle size is 3.25mm/US 3. You will also need a 2.5mm crochet hook (or thereabouts) for the cast-on.
