Cottagecore Bow
This pattern is free using the code ‘Bow’ until the end of day June 13th! Happy Knitting! ❤️
Add a touch of charm to any hairstyle with the Cottagecore Bow—a sweet and stylish accessory that’s as fun to make as it is to wear! Perfect for using up leftover yarn, this stashbusting project is quick, easy, and ideal for knitters of all levels. Worked in simple garter stitch and attached to a hair elastic, it’s both functional and fashionable. The pattern includes two sizes—regular and jumbo—so you can choose between a subtle accent or a bold statement. Whimsical, cozy, and effortlessly cute, the Cottagecore Bow is the perfect finishing touch for any outfit.
This simple, stashbuster-friendly pattern is designed with worsted weight yarn and 5mm knitting needles, but you’re welcome to use any yarn and needle sizes you have on hand. The pattern’s clean, straightforward design lets any yarn shine—making it perfect for using up scraps or playing with color.
The bow is worked flat in garter stitch with a faux i-cord edge for a neat finish. You’ll knit the entire body first, stitch the ends together to form a loop, and then create the center of the bow while attaching it to an elastic hair band. It’s fully customizable in width and length—just keep in mind that changes will affect your yarn usage. Gauge isn’t critical for such a small project.
Although the pattern notes right and wrong sides for clarity, the finished piece is fully reversible. There’s no true “front” or “back.”
The pattern includes two sizes: regular and jumbo. My blue sample is the regular size, and the purple one is the jumbo size. In the instructions, directions for the larger size appear in parentheses, like this: regular,(jumbo).
This beginner-friendly pattern uses only basic stitches, making it ideal for newer knitters or anyone looking for a relaxing, satisfying project. It’s a quick knit—I can usually finish one in about an hour! To help you along the way, video tutorials are included for all special techniques, so you’ll feel confident from start to finish.
Regular Bow: 2.25” in width & 7.5” in circumference (before blocking and securing the middle)
Jumbo Bow: 3.5” in width & 8” in circumference (before blocking and securing the middle)
