Make room in your closet for your new favorite sweater! Countdown Cardi is an open-front cardigan designed to showcase a magical, mirrored color fade radiating from the center of the body. Countdown Cardi is designed to use a countdown (or Advent) set of 21 colors or more, in combination with a truly unique construction method to produce a stunning garment you’ll never get tired of showing off. Knit side to side with fingering weight held double or DK, it is a speedy knit with sleeves knit first so you don’t crash land on the dreaded sleeve island!

YARN REQUIREMENTS
The Countdown Cardi does not use a set number of colors for your fade, so the amounts are totally customizable to your stash or taste in yarn. I recommend gathering a collection of mini skeins and scraps equaling at least these amounts, in fingering or DK weight yarn (but more is always better!)

When gathering your yarn, I recommend supplementing your countdown set with a coordinating main color (I chose Mermaid Moonset). Tally up your total grams in the countdown calendar, then add as many additional colors or coordinating contrast skeins as are required. Get creative with it, and make it totally yours!

For reference, I used one 100-gram skein of contrast color for my Size E sweater. In order to knit the size K sweater, you may need as much as 300 or 400 grams of your contrast.
