A vintage Victorian counterpane bedspread inspired Susan Strawn Bailey to design this graceful, lovely stocking. An eight-stitch razor shell lace cuff suggests the counterpane’s traditional lacy border. Although the counterpane pattern looks complex, it consists of eight identical squares with an engaging but not especially difficult series of bobbles, yarnovers, and leaf shapes made with increases and decreases. The simple garter stitch heel and stockinette foot knit up quickly.
