A shawl of unusual V-shape construction, Counting Waves, combines a simple pattern of double crochet and a more advanced pattern of treble crochet to create waves. Soothing pattern repeat will keep your fingers busy and your mind relaxed. A variety of yarn styles and colors may be used, choose your favorite!

Skill level: advanced beginner to intermediate
Finished dimensions: from a bottom tip to a wing tip about 50 inches (127 cm), wing width about 10 inches (25 cm)
Yarn: fingering weight yarn, Color 1 (solid or variegated) – about 3.5 oz (100 g), 463 yds (423 m) , Color 2 (solid or gradient) about 4.2 oz (120g), 555 yds (507m) I used Bay View Fiber Arts yarns, Providence Bay Sock, a skein of variegated color (a play on Cleopatra’s Wing colorway), and a gradient set of 6 minies (teal colors), tied together into a magic ball.
Hook: US F (3.75 mm) or size to obtain gauge.
Other materials: tapestry needle.
Gauge: 20 dc and 7 rows = 4”.
