Cow Springs Hiking Socks
While working on my son’s Eagle Scout project, we discovered Cow Springs campground (north of Fillmore, CA).
We packed in all the equipment that we needed to dig out, and re-establish this backpacker’s campsite, and hiked the 3 ½ mi distance, all uphill. Climbing almost 750 ft. in elevation, these comfy sock would have been perfect on the trail.
Beginning with a square of garter st. to form the toes,
and working toward the leg, these socks feature a reinforced
heel flap at the bottom of the sock, where you need it the most. While this pattern was written as a 1st sock pattern, it is enjoyable to anyone who wants a simple toe-up sock.
Directions are included for adapting the pattern to other sizes,
and smaller yarn wts.
