This capelet is deliciously warm and knit out of a super bulky yarn. Simple raglan shaping allows this garment to drape over the shoulders without sliding off. Cables and simple lacework add decoration, and the front portions of this capelet are separated from the main body to allow for more freedom of movement (perfect for typing or knitting, less than ideal for wearing a jacket).

This capelet is available in 3 sizes - 45 inch circumference, 60 inch circumference, and 75 inch circumference. This garment should be worn with 5-15 inches of positive ease (measured from the bust, not including the arms), so there is quite a bit of wiggle room in the sizes. If you’d like a closer fitting capelet, choose a size with less positive ease, if you would like a looser fitting capelet, choose a size with more positive ease.

Materials needed: 300-400 yards of super bulky yarn (gauge = 8 sts/4 inches, 13 rows/4 inches), needles needed to acquire gauge (I used US size 13’s on a 40” cable, you may need 15’s or 17’s, depending on your gauge), 19 stitch markers, 2 long pieces of scrap yarn, scissors, tapestry needle.

I used Woolfolk Hygge, but you absolutely don’t need to use such an expensive yarn! Cascade yarns Magnum or Spuntaneous should work fine, as should Novita Hygge Wool, or of course you can select another yarn! Just make sure to do a gauge swatch with whatever you choose.
