This Pattern contains instructions for two type of cast-on for the Cuffs. A standard cast-on, the easy option and a long-tailed two colour cast-on, for which you need knowledge of the basic long tail cast-on.

Needle sizes and stitch counts are included for making wristers with 4-ply weight yarns.

Double knitting is a way of creating a warm totally reversible fabric. Double knitting in the round is a little easier to learn.

There are no edges to worry about. Edges can be problematical, they are a little fiddly to finish nicely, and if not finished
they are always open and rolling in towards the middle of the knitting. Double knitting in the round – no edges.

What can be a problem with circular double knit is that we find out our purl stitch is either a little tighter than our knit stitch or
a little looser (most common). After blocking this is not very noticeable. This problem is exacerbated a little If you are
working with a slippery yarn.

These wrister patterns are a great way to learn. They are small and do not require shaping. They leave your fingers free
to work and still keep your hands nice and warm.

Our Wristers are knit with a DK weight yarn, but the pattern would be easily transferable to a fingering weight gauge if desired. See the highlighted notes in the pattern.

Notes on Double Knitting
1) Always needs a smaller needle to achieve the required gauge. It is a loose technique.
2) Every stitch is worked and alternates between knit and purl. One knit followed by one purl.
3) Both yarns need to be moved for every st, back and forth like 1x1 ribbing
a. Ie – both yarns in back if the next st is to be knit or both yarns in front if the next st is to be purled.
4) Double knitting is always worked in at least 2 colours.
a. For our purposes main (m) is the colour facing us and contrast (c) is the inside colour of the knit.
5) Double knitting is usually most effective if the colours are highly contrasting.
6) Each square on the chart represents 2 sts
a. The knit st is worked in the colour shown and the purl st is worked in the contrasting colour
b. Ie – round 1 of small rose chart will be read as K1m, P1c, (K1c, P1m) 3 times, (K1m, P1c) 5 times

Materials: 4.0mm US #6 dpn’s for the cast-on only, 3.5mm US #4 or 3.25mm US #3 dpn’s, 50 grs each of two contrasting
colours of DK weight yarn and the regular notions.
Note – to work the pattern in fingering weight yarns: 3.25mm US #3 dpn’s for the cast-on only; 2.25mm US #1, 50 grs
each of two contrasting colours.

Gauge: 3.25mm needle – 20 sts in 4 inches working in double knit st; 3.5mm needle – 18 sts in 4 inches working in
double knit st

Sizes: One size with variations depending upon the needle size used. Ie tighter gauge gives a cuff of approx. 7 inches around and looser gauge gives a cuff of approx. 8 inches around.
