There are many fascinating species of crabs and each species favor distinct beach areas based on their needs. If you’re very lucky, you’ll get to see them come out to court each other and dance on the sands! These socks include dancing crabs and stripes inspired by old fashioned striped beach costumes and beach huts!

Yardage:
Sample socks knit in size L (64 st) with 15cm / 6” leg length and 19cm / 7.5” long foot. Total estimated yardage: Approx 260 (280, 300, 320, 340, 360) m / 284 (306, 328, 349, 372, 394 yds.

Needle Size:
Size 2.5 mm / 1.5 US, DPNs or circular needles, or size needed to achieve gauge.

Notes

• The mosaic crabs will be raised as they are worked in garter stitch on a stocking stitch background.
• The mosaic crab motifs in this sock will require you to slip multiple stitches periodically as you work them, so it is very important to spread the slipped stitches on the right needle to create a float that doesn’t pull in your work. While you are only ever working with one colour at a time in this sock, you will have floats that must be properly managed (e.g. they should have some slack so the sock can be easily put on). If you find the mosaic sections of your sock are tight you can go up a needle size when working the charts to assist with maintaining your gauge.
• The charts for this pattern include a colour key line on the right side of every chart. The key is NOT a stitch that is intended to be knit. It is there to remind the knitter of which colour should be used for each row.
