Crayons
DESIGN:
A love of colour is always the starting point for many Handful Of Colour Patterns and Crayons was no different. In fact, a desire to use colour-change yarns in a different (vertical) way led to a progression from the Skyscraper shawl. Colour-change yarns and slipped stitches cram this colour into a stunning piece that looks far more complicated than it is. Now you can carry all the colours you love with you!
CONSTRUCTION
Crayons is a triangular wrap that starts from a point and increases in width along the left edge. Constructed using two contrasting yarns with long repeats of colour, I-cord edges lead to a ribbed panel to finish. Only two different colourways are used and just one colour is worked per row meaning that Crayons is easier to knit than it looks. If you can knit, purl, M1L (backwards loop cast on) and slip a stitch then you can make Crayons.
DIFFICULTY:
Beginner.
Skills required:
Cast on
Bind off
Knit

YARN:
2 x any fingering yarns (420m each) with long repeats, or two single colours. Total: 840m (918yds approx). Distinctly different colourways will give a more defined result.
NEEDLES:
US 2.5 (3mm) circular needles; 40” (100cm) cable.
US 6 (4mm); any length to cast off / bind off.
GAUGE:
32 sts x 24rows blocked (10cm square) starting at left edge of a slipped stitch column; rows are mounted on the slipped st columns. Please note Crayons uses up both skeins/balls.
