The Crocus Shawl was inspired by the simple beauty of crocus flowers - those early signs of spring that quietly announce the changing season. As this design was beginning to take shape, a visit to a local yarn shop revealed Fyberspates Vivacious DK Superwash Merino in the Crocus colourway, a happy coincidence that felt like the final piece of the puzzle. Its gentle depth of colour echoes the richness and optimism of these small but mighty blooms.

This relaxing triangular shawl is worked from the bottom up, allowing you to settle into a soothing rhythm as the fabric grows beneath your hands. A lace centre panel emerges first, gradually becoming a fixed feature as the shawl widens, with garter stitch ‘wings’ added at either side to frame the design with squishy texture. The shift between the two invites you to slow down and notice the change in feel - the steady, reassuring rhythm of garter stitch sitting alongside the more delicate movement of lace.
