This vest is inspired by one I made a few years ago from a Japanese pattern, it was the first piece of knitting which used my crofthoose motif, I found the lack of instructions in the pattern very liberating to knit and I have tried to replicate the style of pattern with some extra information in the text. I redesigned the motifs and used two strands of a heavy aran/light chunky yarn to knit this vest which has a Cowichan feel. It is knit flat and in one piece up to the armholes and then each front and the back is worked separately, the main pattern is in the chart and although the finishing (collar, crochet edging and zip) take time you will end up with a cosy, slightly cropped vest which works up quickly in the thicker yarn.
