Csilla Cowl
Csilla {a Hungarian feminine given name meaning ‘starlike’}.
Combining simple knit and purl stitches with traditional smocking technique,
Csilla is richly textured and exceptionally squishy. The ornate motif is both
top-down and inside-out reversible, making this cowl quite versatile in wear. Suitable for adventurous knitters of all skill levels, Csilla is a single-skein project
ideal for showcasing those very special yarns in a way that is artful and wearable.

DETAILS
The Csilla design was inspired by Shorn - a very special sheep-to-skein yarn produced by Melissa Littlefield of Knitting the Stash. While rustic in origin, Shorn is exceptionally soft and silky to the touch. It also gives off a subtle sheen which takes on different qualities depending on the angle from which the strands are observed. The starlike smocking motif of Csilla evolved to highlight these characteristics, and I love the way the pattern and the yarn interact.
As a companion piece to this cowl, there is also a Csilla Hat pattern, available from Melissa directly. Kits and paper patterns for both designs can likewise be purchased from Melissa.
