CSM STARTER SOCKS

A simple sock recipe you can customize to any size. It is as easy as making a tension swatch, finding your favourite sock fabric, and using those measurements to create the perfect pair of cozy socks in a stockinette, ribbed, or striped design!

SweetGeorgia Yarns wants to ensure you have everything you need for your CSM knitting success, including a Circular Sock Machine: Foundations course at www.schoolofsweetgeorgia.com.

Stockinette Socks: 1 skein SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock (425 yds / 388 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% Easy-Care Merino, 20% Nylon) in Fizzy Water

Mock Rib Socks: 1 skein SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock (425 yds / 388 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% Easy-Care Merino, 20% Nylon) in Coastline or Sea Glass

EQUIPMENT & TOOLS
Knitting Machine: circular sock knitting machine with 64-stitch cylinder. Adjust cylinder size if necessary to obtain your ideal gauge.
Heel forks, stem weights, pick tool, cast-on bonnet, buckle, darning needle, waste yarn, ravel cord.

GAUGE
8.5 sts and 11 rnds = 1” / 2.54 cm in stockinette, after blocking.
Please note that changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements.

PATTERN NOTES

These socks are knit from the cuff down, starting with a hung hem. The heels and toes are worked using the “No Wrap Heel” method over 50% of the needles. If you prefer, work a deep heel by working the heel over 56% of the needles (e.g. 2 additional needles on each side). Note that I generally engage the heel spring throughout the sock. You may choose to use the heel spring only for heels or throughout the sock.

Use the measurements from your tension swatch to complete the calculations on the worksheet.
