This vest was inspired by the yarn. Billow by Shibui Yarns is a relatively new yarn for the company. The moment I saw it, I envisioned clouds. I guess they did too, hence the name. The vest is made mostly in the round with very little finishing. The most striking thing about it is the stitch pattern. It looks complicated but is simply alternating knits and purls with a 4x4 cable thrown in for variety. The back is a bit longer than the front to give it a modern twist. A tubular cast on is used for the ribbing with a matching tubular bind off for the neckline ribbing. German short rows are used to shape the shoulders and Kitchener stitch is used for seaming. The armholes feature an integrated rolled edge.
