You can work this pattern using just about any yarn or thread you like. When you choose colors, keep in mind that you'll have a couple of inactive colors being carried inside your stitches, so choose colors that won't be startling if they "peek through" a bit.

The pinks in the project sample are Cascade 220; the tan is a hand-dyed color (there are comparable colors available in Cascade 220, which I'd recommend); and the red for the cherry is Paton's classic wool. I'm looking forward to seeing all the creative ways in which y'all decide to recolor this.
